This 1979 Porsche 911 SC has been transformed into a stunning lightweight 964 RS tribute.  This Porsche is equipped with a 3.0-liter flat-6 engine, believed to be original to the chassis, which has undergone a top-end rebuild approximately 25,000 miles ago.  This legendary engine is paired with a 915 5-speed transmission, which is believed to have been replaced with a period-correct used unit.

While the odometer displays approximately 219,800 miles, it's noted that, like most older Porsches, its exact true mileage is unknown.  The speedometer has been upgraded to a 170MPH unit and has been rebuilt with a replacement odometer cog, eliminating issues from the deteriorating original components.  Based on the thorough service history provided with this car, the mileage approximation is believed to be fairly accurate.

The vehicle is currently presented in an older respray in a shade reminiscent of Guards Red (original color was light blue metallic), over a standard black interior.  The paint, while not flawless, still shows well.  The driver’s side quarter panel was touched up at some point in the past, and was notably completed to a lesser quality than the previous full body repaint.  The body retains all original Porsche steel and is exceptionally straight and rust free with only two minor areas of corrosion to be noted - one at the base of the windshield and the second inside the drivers door jamb.  The undercarriage was undercoated in period, so the underside of the vehicle remains incredibly solid and rust free.

This Porsche comes with an extensive binder filled with mostly complete service records and history dating to the mid-80s, providing buyers with an insight into this car’s pedigree and history of thorough care, maintenance, and restoration.  This PCA member-owned, modified 1979 Porsche 911 SC is now offered with a clean and clear Tennessee title.

For full disclosure, known flaws include:
-Typical air cooled oil leaks
-Aging plastic on the 964 style tail lights and center bar
-Miscellaneous paint flaws and rock chips, common with an older repaint and driver’s car
-Previous touch-up paint work done to the driver’s quarter panel does not show as well as the rest of the car.  This area includes more texture in the paint, some areas where the paint has released from the surface creating a “bubble”, and a paint flake on the fender edge

A paint-matched 964 RS 3.8 style rear wing is included (but not installed) with the vehicle.  An original full tool kit, jack, and spare tire are also included (but not installed), if the buyer desires.

With its sports minded upgrades and thorough mechanical rejuvenation, this Porsche delivers an exceptional driving experience, worry-free ownership experience, and is prepared for any roadtrips or rallies its new owner may desire.  This is a great opportunity to get into a well-sorted, driver’s 911.  Please feel free to reach out with any questions, specific photo requests, or to view the vehicle.
